Jacques Kallis: Profile

The broad shouldered figure in South African cricket team creates calm in some and dread in others. Described as the greatest cricketer to play the game by the senior protagonist, Jacques Henry Kallis a Right-handed batsman and fast-medium swing bowler is one of the best all-rounders the game has ever witnessed. His fielding is also next to perfection, his viper like reflexes in slip makes difficult catches look regulation. His achievements are many and he has been awarded the ICC Test Player of the Year 2005, ICC Player of the Year 2005 and Wisden Leading cricketer of the Year 2007.

The South African maestro made his test debut in the year 1995 but was sluggish initially. He later portrayed himself as one of the toughest both mentally and physically and started waving his magic. He caught the eyes of everyone with his famous Boxing Day innings at Melbourne against Australia where he made a 101 on a worn last day pitch. He created another landmark event at 2003/04 season by making a century in five consecutive test matches. In 2007 he again made an achievement by, making 5 centuries in 4 test matches. Jacques Kallis has also grabbed many 5 wickets and 4 wickets in both test and one day international. His role as a bowler diminishes with each passing season; he will be remembered as a purveyor of sometimes surprising pace and swing, and awkward bounce.

He has been often criticized for not dominating attacks and for unnecessarily slow scoring. He was later dropped from T20 Squad for world cup. But he proved his mettle again after he was recalled to the team for the Pakistan tour in 2007. His last season’s performance in IPL for Royal Challengers must have stunned all the critics.

His greatness can’t be questioned as he is a committed player who puts his team first and his personal ambitions some way behind.

Astonishing Facts:

· He is the only cricketer in the history of the game to hold more than 10,000 runs and 250 wickets in both one day and Test match cricket.

· Kallis is one of only four players in Test history to make a century in five consecutive matches.

· Kallis is one of only four players in Test history to score 5 centuries in 4 Tests.

· He set the record for the fastest half-century, as measured by balls faced, in Test cricket history, scoring 50 against Zimbabwe off only 24 balls.

· Kallis currently holds a number of South African cricket records, including most ODI and Test runs, highest ODI and second highest Test batting average and most Test centuries by a South African.

Kash, if only, just imagine……….

Kash, if only, just imagine……….

The Hindi word ‘Kash’, which stands for ‘if’ in English are one of the most repetitive words used in an individual’s life. We all use this almost every time in our life just by using different word like if only, just imagine, and may be. The irony behind these words is all these words just push us into an imaginary road which leads to the highway of sorrow and disappointment.

Some of the most common ‘Kash’ statements which I make include; just imagine if I was born for very rich parents, if I would have taken my studies more seriously in my school times then things would have been different, I wish I had a job with a better salary, and most latest or rather painful of all ‘Kash’ she would have expressed herself then the life would have been different. The series of events which I have gone through these days has got a lot of such ‘if only’ thinking in my brain. The thing which matters is what do such thoughts give us?

A set of imaginary things like a royal house, a 90% of marks, a cute looking girlfriend, a salary of above 50,000, a good looking and popular me and blah … blah …. It’s true we get a short term pleasure but at the cost of what? Well whenever I have used these words I just think about all those things which I have never achieved, it makes me feel sad for being close to almost many things and still loosing it, it makes me feel bad for whatever I am today. It reminds me about my past which I can never change, and tries to spoil the fun which I have in my present. It haunts me when I think I must have done that, this, or whatever. They are the moments which I always wanted to have but I failed to.

All those people reading this please understand analyzing our past is always good but regretting for it is not a sign of a wise person. We must firstly realize the fact that “the more anger towards the past you carry in your heart, the less capable you are of loving in the present.” It is true that series of such imaginations will never end in anyone’s life but we must have a power to control it.

“Just imagine if you would have not wasted your may years behind thinking just Kash main yeh hota…….stop thinking the same way again guys…. Go back to work….. J

A new venture of life.

It's after a long time I am coming back in my account and trying to scribble something in my blog. Well guys I am finally a graduate. I topped in my college with 70%, hmm.... stop laughing guys (my friends) its actually true. I even got a job as a content writer.

Well I never imagined myself getting up at morning going to job and coming back till 10 at night. When I used to see my brother and other friends going for job and coming late I used to think I can never do and it is so boring, but when my turn came I found it very interesting. The best part in this is I was desperately searching for a job attended almost 8 interviews in a month; came close in cracking many interviews but failed and finally got a job as a content writer. This is the moment when I realized no matter how much we run, cry or search for anything in life, we will get it only at the right time.

After joining I realized going for job is not an easy task. It’s just like getting up early in the morning and going for a war with almost everything which comes across your way right from leaving home at time, competing the wok task assigned to us, handle the tantrums and the mood swings of the boss. Oh well the most difficult part among all this things is travelling in trains. It’s true if we live in Mumbai then trains are our life line but I had such an awesome experience just in this short span of time that I don’t feel it a life line any more. I would like to share the three major experience firstly some a** hole stole my mobile, an argument with a young guy, and thirdly a real fight with an above 50 year old uncle. After having such weird experiences I rank travelling the most difficult part among all. Every day after getting down from train I understand the real meaning of “life after death”.

I don’t know why people get so much angry after getting into trains; I find everyone staring at each other as all people are there enemies. I found many unknown people staring at me in anger I don’t understand the reason behind it. But trust me people do this! This is an advice to all those who travel in train please don’t stare at each other, as 377 is legal now some people may misinterpret. If you are angry at any of the things please don’t remove it on the fellow passengers. It is simply a senseless thing to do.

Well if you are planning to work then welcome to the world of monotonous life. This is the major reason why people find work as boring. You will start missing all those days with your friends and family which you spent. Most importantly you will start understanding the values of Sundays. The whole week all my colleagues along with me work just waiting for the Sunday to come. I never knew Sundays are so precious.

Well this are actually all negative things but some one has rightly said “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it”. So I am trying to react in the best possible I could do and I even expect you people to do the same. All the best J

KEFC…….”Imagination is more important than knowledge”

Appearance are often deceptive this is one of the things which gives justice to that statement. (KEFC) Kalyan East Football Club is one of the best football clubs in Thane district. Well that’s not a self proclaimed statement the team has stated there intentions very clear; Club that didn’t have any identity or rather any entity 3 years before; But now has created many talent...with the club set to play its first major league TDFA (Thane Division Football Association) has proved its presence by picking the second spot it and becoming the Thane Division Runner up’s.

Moreover we are that lucky that we are blessed with a great ground “Bhorpada” after which the club was previously named after. A ground that we consider as our mother is situated in the interiors of the Kalyan in between a small village. It is not actually a football ground but for us is nothing less than Old Trafford or Wembley

Players here play the godly game with lots a passion n dedication. One thing is true that many of you could beat these players in terms of skills.....but definitely not in terms of obsession they carry for this beautiful game on the earth.

Anybody can join this club just with a single criteria....and that’s he must be a die hard fan of this game......HAIL KEFC!!!!

Oop’s!!! I am in love………….

Oop’s!!! I am in love………….

People say love is a blessing but I used to think “Whether that is true???” I used to sit in the last bench of my class and see the so called love birds or couples of my class fighting. It came in my mind many times to ask them that “hey guys are u blessed and if yes; then why fights” but being new to the class I never dared to ask anything to any one….by seeing all this I decided that I will stay away from this infection of ‘LOVE’.

But one fine day I saw her in my class she was not that beautiful or extraordinary but still she was good simple and sweet. Being part of a same classroom it took three long months to start a conversation with every one but for her I only took 2 months… I was surprised that “how can a girl talk to a dumb boy like me and that to in two months?? But still I was happy that all this things was true.

Don’t worry guys I still don’t believe that love is a blessing!!!!!!!

I used to talk a lot with her because I never had that much friends and she only being the one. It happened like I went outside for a tour for two or three days. I don’t know what happened to me but really I started missing her. All the way in my journey I tried not to think about her but that was ‘unstoppable’.

Now start worrying guys I am in love!!!!!!!!!

The loneliness started from that day in my life and believe me its still with me. I came back to my place called her up and proposed her. It was not surprising for her but surely embarrassing. I can’t assure about the surprise and embarrassing but I can guarantee that it was the most unromantic proposal made by any boy. She said me not but for that I was not surprised. But as I said it was JUST ‘UNSTOPPABLE’.

I thought that will lead to an end to our friendship but it never did happen that way, we became best friends after that and gradually my small crush developed into a deep and sincere feeling. My life changed I spent most of the time with her in college, and after reaching home talking to her again via mobile became a common scenario. I enjoyed flirting with her between our talks and even fighting often. I started being jealous of all my friends who had girlfriends but very little I could do to change her mind.

Still we are best friends and she knows that I love her so much but still she never had such feelings for me. Earlier I was afraid that whether she will be my friend one day or not but now she is next to me almost every time and still I find something incomplete. I started hating all those movies which says “if we will love some one by our heart we will get that person”. I can’t conclude anything as I myself is searching for a conclusion. But I can guarantee one thing that I am enjoying every bit of this feeling and in the end I would like to say that ‘ONE SIDED LOVE ROCKS ‘…………..

Passion leads to commitment.

Passion leads to commitment.

I still remember those days again late at home, my mom saying “what’s there in the game 22 players running behind a single ball”. But if you will about that to me I will say “If there is anything important in my life that’s football, its not about passing, its not about dribbling, its not about scoring goals; its about touching the sky for a moment, I believe that there’s life in that 6 inch diameter, it is in my DNA, feel the fever of the crowd and hear the roar of the people. It’s not just a game its life”.

I started my carrier as a defensive midfielder or in a much better way as a player who never even used to wear shoes and only knowing that we have to kick the ball and get it past the goalkeeper into the net. It was very hurting those days to play with the senior players. They never used to pass the ball and forced me to clear the ball whenever I got a pass. But I can’t ignore the fact that they taught me more than anyone in this world. I started learning the game quickly and soon realized my position as a right back. I used to practice a lot and started following the game and many players. I was so dedicated that I gradually changed my hairstyle, dressing style and many other things.

I started playing at higher levels by participating in many major tournaments. I was happy with my performance and the situation but all this things was regarding my game. But I needed to sacrifice and face different problems. I have to bunk my lectures and go for practice. I have to fight with my parents for bunking and most importantly I can’t even call her sometimes but still I went for almost all practice sessions. And finally at the time of match I found myself nowhere in the squad. I asked the reason why?????? They said you are not yet ready for the match. Imagine after bearing so much of problems I am out. I found may other players who were not that deserving playing in my position. That gave a pinch to me and at that moment I decided that I want to be the permanent right back of the team.

And now after 8 long months I became the captain of Birla College and became the first choice right back for my home team (KEFC). I never wanted to make football as a profession as this is a neglected game in India; but still believe that life rocks in that 6 inch diameter.

I can understand that if this is the condition of a tiny player like me then what about other big stars, it is easy to say I play football but practically it should be I struggle to play football in such a cricket oriented country.

Stars started showing its real colors !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stars started showing its real colors !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The seven star college of thane district have drop outs of more than 150 students in FYJC (commerce).

Bibin Alexander. Thane (Kalyan).

All that glitters is not gold……… Birla College, kalyan this is the thing which gives justice to the statement.

4th May, was not a usual day for Birla College Kalyan as the result of FYJC students from commerce faculty was declared. It might be quite surprising to hear that the college which is accredited 7 stars by NAAC committee has got dropouts of around 170 students in FYJC commerce stream.

The final lists for the admissions in FYJC commerce stream closed in 80% last year; so the students who got admissions must have scored at least above 75%. But it was very disappointing to see that from the total strength of near about 790 students only 17 students have scored distinction, 213 students have scored grade 1, 217 students are passed with condonation, 2 students with pass grade and as mentioned above around 170 students failed miserabely. Even after scoring 70% in tenth we cannot completely blame or question on the ability of students but the authorities can be blamed as the number of students failed is not just one, two, or three, but it is a bunch of whole 170 students.

By seeing this scenario the question which arises is why the college has taken permissions from the University for starting Msc. in Economics and Management if condition of FYJC (Commerce) which is the base itself is so terrible and weak.

The two queries still left in the minds of students and there parents is does Birla college deserves 7 stars accredition and are the students in safe hands.
